Psalm 1 shows the stark difference between a life that seeks God and one that focuses on sin. It is a choice clearly laid out in the psalm.
when you donât follow the advice of those who delight in wicked schemes, When you avoid sinâs highway, when judgment and sarcasm beckon you
There are many who stumble through life following the advice of sinners. They delight in wicked schemes, deceit, and sarcasm. They donât know how to avoid sinâs highway.
But, for the one who chooses The Eternal, the Way of Life, Godâs blessings surround them.
For you, the Eternalâs Word is your happiness. It is your focusâfrom dusk to dawn. You are like a tree, planted by flowing, cool streams of water that never run dry. Your fruit ripens in its time; your leaves never fade or curl in the summer sun. No matter what you do, you prosper.
The difference between a tree planted by a stream that provides water continuously and one struggling in a desert, or, like my backyard, is easily apparent. The tree by the stream sends its roots deep in the ground, drinking in the water there. It is never thirsty. The leaves never become brittle, but they open to the sun.
The tree in my backyard searches for water but finds very little. The sprinklers are turned off, and the rain is rare and sparse. The roots grow on top of the ground, spreading in all directions, destroying walls and foundations alike.
When the winds come, which tree will be able to stand tall and strong? The tree by the stream has its roots deeply embedded, ensuring the tree cannot be toppled. The tree in my backyard has little to anchor it to the ground. It may soon give up the fight and fall. The roots are on top of the ground. They do not anchor the tree.

Verse of the Week and My Prayer for You
Psalm 1
Godâs blessings follow you and await you at every turn: when you donât follow the advice of those who delight in wicked schemes, When you avoid sinâs highway, when judgment and sarcasm beckon you, but you refuse.
For those who focus on sin, the story is different. They are like the fallen husk of wheat, tossed by an open wind, left deserted and alone. In the end, the wicked will fall in judgment; the guilty will be separated from the innocent. Their road suddenly will end in death, yet the journey of the righteous has been charted by the Eternal.
Prayer

Thank You, Lord, that her journey in this life has been charted by You, the Eternal One. You are with her always, rescuing, guiding, and protecting her.
