You try to take away their only hope, but the Eternal is a strong shelter in the heaviest storm.
Psalm 14 is dark. The pain, the sorrow, the evil it portrays here on earth feel like they come from today's headlines. No hope, only pain and sorrow. Cruelty is the point. The enjoyment in others’ pain is hard to endure.
But the Eternal IS a strong shelter in the heaviest storm.
The Eternal God is alive today, searching for those who recognize His grace, love, and mercy.
I’m not sure if you have heard of Tommee Profitt before today. His latest album, “The Resurrection of a King”, is fabulous, chill-inducing, glorious praise to our King. Using hymns ages old, he re-creates them and brings home their message.
I recommend you watch the videos on his channel here.

Today also marks the first anniversary of my mother’s graduation into heaven. Yesterday, as we said goodbye to the Grand Canyon, I found tiny flowers. Mom would have pointed them out to me as a sign of the coming spring and summer seasons.
The dark contrasts of this season in my life, loss, grief, share space with the hope of heaven and the joy of family.
Verse of the Week and My Prayer for You
Psalm 14
A wicked and foolish man truly believes there is no God. They are vile, their sinfulness nauseating to their Creator; their actions are soiled and repulsive; every deed is depraved; not one of them does good.
The Eternal leans over from heaven to survey the sons of Adam. No one is missed, and no one can hide. He searches to see who understands true wisdom, who desires to know the True God.
They all turn their backs, walking their own roads; they are rancid, leaving a trail of rotten footsteps behind them; not one of them does good, not even one.
Do the wicked have no clue about what really matters? They devour my brothers and sisters the way a man eats his dinner. They ignore the Eternal and don’t call on Him, rejecting His reality and truth.
They shall secretly tremble behind closed doors, hearts beating hard within their chests, knowing that God always avenges the upright. You laugh at the counsel of the poor, the needy, the troubled who put their trust in God. You try to take away their only hope, but the Eternal is a strong shelter in the heaviest storm.
May a new day, a day of deliverance come for Israel, starting with Zion. When the Eternal breaks the chains of His oppressed people, the family of Jacob will rejoice, and Israel will be delighted.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for my reader. She does good every day and understands true wisdom that comes from You. She desires to know You and follows the paths You have for her.
Thank You, Lord, that she calls on You and lives in reality and truth. You always avenge the upright and those who put their trust in You. You are her hope, her strong shelter, even in the heaviest storm. Give her joy in a new day of Your deliverance. She delights in You.
Lord, You are our Great and Mighty King. You fight for us every day. We trust in You. We rest in You, knowing You are faithful. Help us to be grateful and praise Your name, Almighty God. Be glorified through her. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Have a blessed week! Thank you for reading!

The Night You Should Have Left
He thought he was the one watching
A Blood on the Board Prelude
He thought he was the one watching.
Morris Hale has spent his career studying people — their weaknesses, their habits, the moments they don't realize they're exposed.
Driving for the Quinn estate is supposed to be simple.
Keep the schedule. Keep the silence. Don't cross the line.
But Elara Quinn does not behave like other women.
She plays chess in underground rooms where men twice her age lose more than money.
She swims alone without looking over her shoulder.
She never raises her voice.
She never asks for protection.
And she never explains what she knows.
When Morris mistakes proximity for permission, he believes he’s taking control.
He doesn’t see the matte black car.
He doesn't hear the warning until it’s too late.
He doesn’t understand that some silences are not invitations — they are measurements.
Because in this world, you are not removed for what you do.
You are removed for believing you could.
The Night You Should Have Left is a dark, psychological prelude to Blood on the Board — a story of entitlement, correction, and the moment a man realizes he was never the player.
Only the piece.
