emily's junior snippets, my hiding place, and my đ prayer for you
You will strengthen them; You who are of heaven will hear them, Vindicating the orphan and the oppressed

Psalm 10 hit me like a brick at first. Coupled with the news and the uncertainty around me, I felt heavy and immovable. Then phrases began to shine out to me.
Arise, O Eternal, my True God. Lift up Your hand. Do not forget the downtrodden.
The psalmist asks the True God, the Eternal One, to lift His hand. To take action against the evil coming against the downtrodden.
But wait! You have seen, and You will consider the trouble and grief he caused. You will impose consequences for his actions. The helpless, the orphans, commit themselves to You, and You have been their Helper.
The psalmist stops the presses! But wait! The True God has seen, and He is our Helper. We commit ourselves to Him.
The Eternal will reign as King forever. The other nations will be swept off His land.
O Eternal One, You have heard the longings of the poor and lowly. You will strengthen them; You who are of heaven will hear them, Vindicating the orphan and the oppressed so that men who are of the earth will terrify them no more.
The Eternal One hears us and strengthens us. My inner concert continued with âThe Lord is My Strength and My Salvation!â and moving into âYou are My Hiding Place.â
Then I read an excellent illustration by a friend of my mom, Dorothy.
I am sitting on the couch and cold. Within reach, I have a blanket. I can sit here and be cold, or I can reach out, get the blanket, and be warmer. Why would I not get the blanket?
The cares and anxieties of this world are troubling me. I have the Lord within reach. Why would I not reach to the Lord? âThe Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to Godâ(Philippians 4:5â6, ESV, https://ref.ly/Php4.5-6;esv).
He does not promise to make all the causes of my anxiety go away, but he does promise peace. âAnd the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesusâ(Philippians 4:7, ESV, https://ref.ly/Php4.7;esv).
I have decided to get the blanket and let my requests be made known to God. May you, too, choose to turn over anxieties.
I gave my anxieties to the Lord and was finally able to move again. May God bless you this week with the same.

Verse of the Week and My Prayer for You
Psalm 10
Why, O Eternal One, are You so far away? Why canât You be found during troubling times? Mean and haughty people hunt down the poor. May they get caught up in their own wicked schemes.
For the wicked celebrates the evil cravings of his heart as the greedy curses and rejects the Eternal. The arrogance of the wicked one keeps him from seeking the True God. He truly thinks, âThere is no God.â
His ways seem always to be successful; Your judgments, too, seem far beyond him, out of his reach. He looks down on all his enemies. In his heart he has decided, âNothing will faze me. From generation to generation I will not face trouble.â
His mouth is full of curses, lies, and oppression. Beneath his tongue lie trouble and wickedness. He hides in the shadows of the villages, waiting to ambush and kill the innocent in dark corners. He eyes the weak and the poor.
Ominously, like a lion in its lair, he lurks in secret to waylay those who are downtrodden. When he catches them, he draws them in and drags them off with his net.
Quietly crouching, lying low, ready to overwhelm the next by his strength, The wicked thinks in his heart, âGod has forgotten us! He has covered His face and will never notice!â
Arise, O Eternal, my True God. Lift up Your hand. Do not forget the downtrodden. Why does the wicked revile the True God? He has decided, âHe will not hold me responsible.â
But wait! You have seen, and You will consider the trouble and grief he caused. You will impose consequences for his actions. The helpless, the orphans, commit themselves to You, and You have been their Helper.
Break the arm of the one guilty of doing evil; investigate all his wicked acts; hold him responsible for every last one of them.
