Harrison’s Crush
“Harrison! Son, look at me.!”
Startled, Harrison looked into his boss’s face. “I’m sorry, sir. I’m afraid I wasn’t listening.”
The grey-haired man sat down in front of Harrison’s desk. He pulled the client chair close to Harrison. “I think it’s about time you told me about this girl.”
Harrison stared at the kind man, “What girl?”
“Why, the girl you were daydreaming about just now! Come on, son. You’ve got it bad, don’t you?” His boss chuckled and leaned on the desk.
Harrison’s cheeks turned red. “Uh, there’s a woman. Her name is Daisy. She’s beautiful. She dresses in all white, and flower petals are scattered on her clothes. It’s a work of art.” Harrison sighed.
“Well, go on. What does she do?” His boss prompted.
“She’s a florist. It’s a magical place; her shop and treasures abound there. I haven’t seen everything yet. And she grows flowers on her property. However, she’s been having problems. Because of me.” Harrison drifted to a stop.
“What do you mean, because of you?” His boss asked. “It isn’t that Melcher guy, is it?”
Harrison nodded and groaned. “He’s trying to get me to lie about the matchmaker place to get rid of his competition. I guess he noticed I have a thing for Daisy.”
“That’s not your fault, son. Is someone helping you and this Daisy?” His boss asked.
“Oh, Ed is working on things for me. He knows security and stuff. But I still worry about her. And then I get distracted by her shoes.” Harrison shook his head.
“Her shoes? What are you talking about, son?” His boss pounded the desk, “Have you told her you like her shoes?”
Harrison looked at his boss. “Yes, I have. She wears the cutest shoes. Plus, she is cute, and kind, and sweet, and helpful.” Harrison leaned forward, “Someone said I should complement things I like about a woman. I always notice shoes, probably because I stare at the floor when I’m around a woman.”
His boss burst into laughter, “Oh, Harrison. I hope she likes you too.”
Harrison shrugged, “She did hug me once. But I think she felt sorry for me. Ed was there. He could tell me, I guess.”
Grinning, his boss stood and said, “Okay, it sounds like this Daisy is good for you. But I’m going to need that report by Friday. So you should stop thinking about Daisy and work!” He laughed as he walked out.
Harrison grinned and turned to the papers on his desk. “Yes, sir.”

John 17:11-17
I will no longer be physically present in this world, but they will remain in this world. As I return to be with You, holy Father, remain with them through Your name, the name You have given Me. May they be one even as We are one. While I was physically present with them, I protected them through Your name. I watched over them closely; and only one was lost, the one the Scriptures said was the son of destruction.
Now I am returning to You. I am speaking this prayer here in the created cosmos alongside friends and foes so that in hearing it they might be consumed with joy. I have given them Your word; and the world has despised them because they are not products of the world, in the same way that I am not a product of the corrupt world order.
Do not take them out of this world; protect them from the evil one. Like Me, they are not products of the corrupt world order. Immerse them in the truth, the truth Your voice speaks.
Lord, thank You for my reader. Thank You that she is Your child. She is one with You and the Father God. She is not part of this corrupt world. Protect her father in the name of Jesus Christ, Your son. Send Your joy into her heart.
Thank You, Lord God, for protecting her from the evil one and for immersing her in the truth Your voice speaks. Let her know how much You love her. Thank You that You listen to her prayers and answer her.
Lord, You are our Great and Mighty King. You fight for us every day. We trust in You. We rest in You, knowing You are faithful. Help us to be grateful and praise Your name, Almighty God. Be glorified through her. In Jesus's name, Amen.
